The collaboration with Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) originated from our encounter at an international school exchange forum last April.

Founded in 2005, Dulwich College Beijing is a prestigious international school in the city. Inheriting over 400 years of outstanding history and traditions from Dulwich College (UK), the school is rooted in British educational heritage and has established a proven international education system refined through extensive educational practice.

Upon learning that the school planned to create an outdoor play space that combines fun and a sense of nature for children to mark its 20th anniversary, we immediately initiated this "dream-building collaboration" with full sincerity and a professional proposal.

Unlike starting a design from scratch, the school had already partnered with a professional design firm to complete the overall planning for this project. However, the unpowered play equipment section—including children’s favorite swings, challenging climbing facilities, and engaging water features—required professional advice to refine details and ensure smooth implementation. Our core task was to turn this "on-paper vision" into a perfect reality.

We are well aware that "the stunning effect of renderings relies on solid structures and meticulous details." Therefore, our first step was to professionally optimize the design plan from the perspective of equipment safety and practicality. For example, regarding the stress-bearing joints of the swings, we adjusted the spacing and angles based on children’s activity habits—preserving the visual appeal of the design while ensuring stability for children’s use. The curvature of the seats was also fine-tuned according to the body shapes of children of different age groups, ensuring both comfort and safety.

The restoration of materials and colors was another key focus that we refined repeatedly with the design firm.

To match the "natural wood-style" tone in the renderings, we selected solid wood samples processed through different methods, mailed physical samples to the design firm and the school for comparison one by one. Every detail went through more than three rounds of sample confirmation, striving to achieve a high degree of consistency with the design effect.
